Branding is making Yourself known and recognized in general.
This includes potential customers you are advertising to as well as
the many Marketers and Affiliates you will meet while working
online.
Branding includes Your name, Your site, Your picture, and Your
Alias if used for surfing traffic exchanges or using safe-lists. The
things that make you more then just a faceless number or an Alias
name with no connection.

This is a very important process which will become very easy shortly after
overcoming the initial shock of putting "you" out there for the world to see.

Once you do you will start to see a dramatic change in your results and
your relationships with like minded Marketers in the Online Industry simply
due to the fact you are showing that you are a real person, become more
aware of who and what you do and of course an element of trust.

Just a quick example: You want to purchase a new T.V. Upon arriving at
the store you are asked by a complete stranger with no name tag or
uniform and for some odd reason dark sunglasses on if you want to buy
something?
Lets flip this a little, You arrive and are greeted by a salesperson in uniform
with a clearly visible name-tag with Dave Nicholson (whoops I know that
name) printed on it and surprisingly he is not wearing sunglasses he looks
somewhat familiar and well obviously works in the store.

Now I am not sure about you but without even speaking about a T.V. Model
(I am going to go out on a limb here and guess) just like me you are much
more likely to consider purchasing from Dave then the rather mysterious
stranger.
Of course this is blown a little out of proportion but the whole point is the
Store did a very wise thing which not only increases their sales it also
helps Dave make sales. What did they do? They branded Dave Nicholson
as their trusted employee hired to represent them and their products.
In case you haven't noticed yet I did some shameless branding of myself in
there too.
This does makes a difference in no matter what you do and especially
online.
I personally have Paul Kinder (Traffic Splash/Affiliate Funnel)
and Cindy Battye (Daily Niche Idea) to thank for opening my eyes wider to
this.
I have a very common name so I was Branding Mansa as my Alias and still
do to this very day which is fine but it was pointed out that I should duel
brand myself for example in the Affiliate Funnel Conference room I
changed my name from "Mansa" to "Dave Nicholson (Mansa)"

You owe it to yourself to attend a live Conference there as some amazing

This is easier then you may think.
1) If you have a site get your name on there. It still amazes me how
many new and seasoned Marketers fail to do this.

Honestly if in your eyes it is not good enough to put your name on
you may want to consider some changes.

Some may not like my site or style and some absolutely love it.
One thing is for sure you will see my name all over it. The same
should go for yours.

2) A recent Picture of YOU. For some this is a very hard bridge to
cross. Personally I swear cameras hate me. If they could snarl I am
sure they would at me lol. But none the less my picture is out there
and on quite a few places on this site where I consider appropriate.

No it is not on the Home page nor every page within as to me that is
just over doing it although no harm in having it there just a personal
preference to keep it where I believe it should be such as thank you
pages which you will see an example of further down this page.

I say a recent picture as this is the best policy your visitors would
like to see who they are talking to dealing with not their pet or a
picture of them as a child. Yes I am sure we all looked more
attractive when we were younger, had more hair and maybe a few
less battle scars but in all honesty I would rather see you as you are
today not 10 years ago ;-)

3)Traffic Exchanges are a great place to start as many have
Branding options where you can upload your picture that can be
used on Rotators, Splash pages, Profiles and more.

The first I would highly recommend is Traffic Splash
Where the have lots of branding options and an excellent Rotator
you can add your picture and name to a very visible advertising
means that can be used in almost any other Traffic Exchange as
well.
The second I would highly recommend is Start Xchange Here your
picture is displayed on the bottom of the page when you sites are
shown as well as a profile and forums there is also a live chat where
you can get to know some very nice Affiliates and Marketers.
Please do not try to promote your site or programs in chat as
against the rules and the chat is a social / branding option for the
surfers.

Why So Many Don't Brand Themselves.

I am sure there are as many reasons Affiliates and Marketers choose
not to Brand themselves. The most common I have come across are
listed below:

1) Unsure of How, Why or What Branding is. In other words haven't
been to this page yet ;-)

2) Self conscience of themselves or of their picture.

3) Not confident in the products or services they are advertising.

4) Scared of Identity theft which is rather silly as there is a lot more
information about on the Internet then names and pictures so why
let that hold anyone back.
By all means protect yourself as anyone should but by Branding
yourself you are not putting yourself at risk.
Using common sense will go a long way.
I would avoid using your phone number.
If you are going to use a copy of your signature make sure to alter it
from your real personal/financial use signature.

5) New to working online and have yet to understand the value.

6) Simply just to Shy.

I am sure a thousand other reasons but none that I myself can justify.

Duel Branding

First off this has nothing to do with cloning yourself or split
personalities lol

Actually it is branding your actual self and an Alias such as :

Mansa = David Nicholson or David Nicholson = Mansa

The reason for an Alias is well it is a lot shorter and Aliases are used
as sign-up names and or affiliate links. So it only makes sense to
brand both and be known as both.

This can be easily accomplished by signing your e-mails with your
alias in brackets.
When talking in chat for example your alias will show up but
introduce yourself as your real name.

Sign forums and blog posts with name and alias in brackets.

While Duel Branding is not required, I personally highly recommend
it so your conversations and articles can be related to your website,
articles, blogs, and advertising .
